Looking for a clean way to mount your options port plug and vacuum reference for your ECU? This 3D printed ABS Plastic plate comes with a 1/4" vacuum passthrough for your ECU MAP reference line, and either a 12 Pin Deutsch Connector (rectangle) or a 29 Pin Deutsch Connector (Circular) to run all of your options/ECU signal wires into.
These will come pre-assembled with the Deutsch Connector and Vacuum Passthrough bolted to the plate, and will include a cutting template so you know exactly how much of your firewall to cut away without leaving unsightly gaps but still clearing all of the hardware. It will also include all of the pins required and the mating connector. You will need a Deutsch connector crimping tool, but they can be found on Amazon for less than $20.
The backside of the plate has clearance for rivnuts, which is our preferred method of mounting these to the firewall. It's a clean and robust solution that doesn't involve trying to tighten the bolt while holding a nut behind the dashboard.
Notes:
- This is no easier than trying to run wires through an existing grommet. It is just a cleaner solution and removes the possibility of wires rubbing on firewall metal.
- I very highly recommend removing your dashboard to install this, but it is by no means a requirement. You will be cutting a large hole in your firewall and cutting the insulation out from behind it. This can in theory all be done from the cabin, it's just not tons of fun.
- The 12 Pin Deutsch Connector is enough for most builds, and only uses 14-20ga capable pins (DT). Solid Barrel style connectors, not traditional crimps.
- The 29 Pin Deutsch Connector is for those of you that want to run all of the sensors, options, and even DBW. This uses DTM (Qty 6), DT (Qty 19), and DTP (Qty 4) sized connectors. Solid Barrel style connectors, not traditional crimps.
- Install all of your wires on the "bulkhead" side of the connector prior to bolting it to the firewall. Don't try to do it when it's in the car or you'll hate yourself.
- Hardware is M5x0.8 for mounting to the firewall, and I will include 4 bolts to do so.
